TESL Diploma

Emerge with a diploma in hand after completing our 10-month, full-time Post Undergraduate TESL Diploma Program. Through face-to-face engagement, this program unfolds over two semesters with observation and practicum equipping educators with essential knowledge and skills for success in English language education.

Semester 1: Foundational Insights (September – December)

Explore the dynamics of adult ESL learners, focusing on characteristics, motivations, and challenges. Tailor instruction effectively through a deep dive into language teaching approaches, lesson planning, and classroom management strategies.

Semester 2: Advancing Expertise (January – April)

Advance teaching proficiency with refined methodologies, technological integration, and assessment precision. Master strategies for nurturing language skills, teaching academic English, and leveraging technology like gamification and virtual reality.

Observation and Practicum Components (May & June)

Complement theory with hands-on experience. Spend 30 hours in diverse classroom contexts during the observation phase and another 30 hours practicing and refining teaching strategies in the supervised practicum phase. This comprehensive experiential journey ensures you graduate with 60 hours of pedagogical expertise.

Semester 1 Description

Welcome to Semester 1 of the TESOL program, a transformative journey designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for effective English language teaching. In this semester, students will engage in four courses, each three credits, contributing to a total of 12 credits. These courses provide a comprehensive foundation for your teaching endeavors from September to December.

TESL 501: Introduction to TESL (3 credits)

TESL 503: Pedagogical Grammar (3 credits)

TESL 504: Teaching with Technology 1 (3 credits)

 

Semester 2 Description 

Welcome to Semester 2 of the TESOL program, where your journey towards becoming a skilled and dynamic English language educator continues. This semester spans four comprehensive courses, each carefully crafted to elevate your teaching prowess and equip you with the strategies needed to guide learners on their language acquisition journey. Each course contains three credits, contributing to a total of 12 credits from January to April. 

TESL 505: Methodology 2 (3 credits)

TESL 506: Teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (3 credits)

TESL 507: Teaching with Technology 2 (3 credits)

TESL 508: Assessment and Evaluation (3 credits)

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Academic Qualifications:
    • Possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
  2. English Proficiency:
    • Non-native English speakers must provide one of the following:
      • IELTS score of at least 6.5 overall.
      • TOEFL score of minimum 88, with sub-scores outlined.
  3. International Credit Evaluation:
    • Canadian citizens or residents with international credentials need evaluations from ICAS (high school) or WES (post-secondary).
